Moments of Panic Attack

Posted on June 16, 2017August 22, 2017 by josefa

WHY DO YOU PANIC? HOW DO YOU HANDLE panic attacks?

Panic attack consists of differing emotions such as fear, anxiety, fast heart beat, trembling, shaking, fainting and crying. Each individual reacts to different events uniquely. For me the word panic is an extreme feeling or emotion when faced with an event of colossal magnitude. The word colossal depends on the person’s perception of the situation. This article will enumerate events or moments that will cause people to panic; their feelings and reactions and how they handle themselves.

SITUATIONS that can trigger panic:

Robbery

Robbery can take place in a bank. You are doing your banking transactions when suddenly a masked person holding a machine gun entered the bank. What if the robbery happens somewhere else: in the street, in the parking lot, even worse in your residence? Will you have time to think of defending yourself? Will your knees give in? Do you have a rifle handy? I don’t want to be in this situation. Maybe I will just give in to the robber’s demands: cash, wallet, credit cards, jewelries, shoes. I will even hand him my coat if he asks for it! Anything to get rid of him. Stuffs can be replaced; not your life.

House Fire

Inside your house are precious belongings. Your family stays and sleeps there. It is a place where your relatives and friends come to congregate. What will you do? You may start grabbing stuffs to take outside. You might grab a couple of pales to fetch some water, thinking it might help stop the fire. Will you remember to dial and call 911? What will happen if the house is burnt totally? Where will you  go? How do you start all over? Will the insurance company replace everything but will increase the premium in return? If it is me,  I will surely roll and wail in the street. It is going to hurt financially and emotionally as well.

Job Interview

So finally a company noticed your resume and scheduled you for an interview. If you have gone through several interviews, this shouldn’t bother you a bit. What if this is your very first? You need the job. Failure is not an option. This interview will definitely send you into a panic mode. What kind of preparations will you take? What clothes to wear, which shoes to match? You may have sleepless nights before the actual interview date. You might have indigestion, or worse, you may not eat anything. Fears and doubts cloud your brain. The “what ifs” are numerous. You may not have a back up plan if you fail this interview. It will devastate you so bad. .

LOSS OF JOB

Your boss just handed your final salary. The company decided to let you go. They don’t need your service anymore. You are caught unprepared. How are you going to pay the monthly house note? How are you going to buy groceries? The credit card companies will want payment from you. The school fees, the medical needs, clothes, utility bills, telephone bills. Where will you get the money to pay for all these necessities? I will need to look for a new job and fast. Any kind of job will do for now. Living in the street is not an option.

DEATH

Death or loss of life is something that is certain to happen to anyone. Life expired. There’s the uncertainty of where the soul will go. Panic strikes those that love this world so much. Some wished they could extend their lives here on earth by whatever means. People panic because they worry about the family that will be left behind. What if you are the only breadwinner? Who will support them? The beloved spouse will hurt the most. The other half of the bed will now be empty. No more sweetheart to talk to. Death is the saddest news a person can handle.

EPIDEMIC DISEASE

Since you learned about a disease spreading around your neighborhood, you panicked. You also found out that the disease not only affected your county, it is worldwide. You are scared to go outdoor or even go to the store. You try to avoid any crowd. You boil everything you eat and drink. House confinement is the only solution you can come up with to protect you and your family. Did it feel like it is the end of the world? You worry about the availability of doctors and nurses. You are concern about the medicine, what if there’s no cure? Scary isn’t it?

bankruptcy

Just the thought of losing everything makes you vomit. Your house, your car, the boat, the motorcycle, the yacht, the 2 four wheelers, expensive jewelries, imported rugs, antique stuffs, will all be lost. There is no other way of stopping bankruptcy. Enter panic mode. You don’t have means of paying off all your debts. Worst if you lost your job! The world is like falling apart. You looked back and analyzed what led to this unfortunate situation. Is it carelessness, showing off, living with extravagance, keeping up with the Joneses? Did you forget to check and balance the bank book? What will happen next? Where to go and start all over? The future looks gloomy and scary. Anybody will panic in this situation.

prison term

You have your own story that led you to the court. The judge just read your verdict: GUILTY! Innocent or not, there’s no way of changing the sentence. You have to go to prison. If somebody takes away your freedom, that is like death. Gone are the days where you are free to roam freely. You are confined to a cell and a heavily guarded compound. You are not used to this kind of environment. What happens to your family now? Who will provide for them? You won’t be able to attend your children’s school activities. Your family needs you. So many scary thoughts are in your mind. Living in prison put a fear in your spine. You’re not the only one who’ll suffer, your loved ones as well. Maybe good behavior will help to get you out of there fast.

BLACKMAIL

Usually we think of blackmail only happens to rich folks. For me blackmail is a fear tactic to get something in return. It could include a damage to reputation. It may involve a scandal. The person inflicting the tactic wants to manipulate the other person. Unless demands or bribes are met and satisfied, there is going to be a bad consequence. So victim’s family is affected as well. So what do you do? You can’t think properly if you are in a panic mode. Will you notify the police? This will definitely send you into a panic mode. Will you accept usury as a solution to get the desired amount of money? It is not a win-win situation if somebody get hold of you and pester you for the rest of your life.

JESUS Christ IS COMING!!!!!!

You will hear 2 extreme types of responses when people hear about Jesus Christ coming again. First you have the atheist who do not believe in the existence of a Supreme Deity and therefore that news will not bother them at all. The second type of response will come from the born-again Christians who believe in the rupture of the church (Hebrews 9:28). But this is a different kind of panic. It is a heavenly excitement for the long-awaited moment where Christ will redeem all His followers to bring to heaven. Scoffers abound everywhere. They believe life here on earth is all there is to it. And you have some other beliefs as well that totally contradict the contents and claims of the BIBLE. Most especially the claim that Jesus Christ will come again as a conquering KING! From the mouths of all believers the response is: AMEN, COME LORD JESUS! (Revelation 22:20)
